TEW-CCA related presentations and participations at conferences and workshops

[Aug 10-14, 2015] Eliza Mandieva participated at the Summer School in Survey Methodology, completed the course on “Design and Implementation of Surveys in Developing Countries”, taught by  Zeina Mneimneh and Jennifer Kelley,  at the GESIS-Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences, Cologne, Germany.

[Nov 27-29, 2015] First workshop of the TEW-CCA project was held in Baku, Azerbaijan. The workshop was attended by 13 participants from 5 countries. A detailed report and program of the workshop can be found here.

[Nov 29, 2015] Eliza Mandieva, Dr. Sattarov and Prof. Dr. Michael Gebel organized a policy briefing on the TEW-CCA project with government representatives and (inter)national organizations in Baku, Azerbaijan.

[Nov 30, 2015] Prof. Dr. Michael Gebel held a public lecture on “The transition from education to work: Challenges for youths” at Baku State University in Azerbaijan. Follow-up discussions concerning youth issues were facilitated by Prof. Dr. Gebel and Eliza Mandieva (University of Bamberg) as well as by Dr. Elmira J. Ismayilova and Mehdi Gulmammaldi (Baku State University) with students from Azerbaijan.

[Dec 9, 2015] Prof. Dr. Michael Gebel held his inaugural lecture on “The transition from education to work in international comparison – Methodological challenges” at the University of Bamberg. In his lecture, he gave an overview on the TEW-CCA project.

 

[Apr 7-8, 2016] Prof. Dr. Michael Gebel held the plenary talk on “The transition from education to work in international comparison. The role of education and labour market institutions” at the conference of the Doctoral program of the Hans-Böckler Foundation „International comparative research on education and education policy in welfare states“ in Tubingen.

[Feb 26-March 4, 2016] Eliza Mandieva participated at the ECPR Winter School in Methods and Techniques, completed courses: “Introduction to MAXQDA, A Qualitative and Mixed Methods Data Analysis Software”, taught by Francisco Freitas, and “Qualitative Interviewing”, taught by Lea Sgier, University of Bamberg, Germany.

[May 25-28, 2016] Prof. Dr. Michael Gebel held a presentation on “Gender, early family formation and the school-to-work transition: Evidence from 30 low and middle-income countries” and he was session chair and discussant of the session “Child development” at the ISA-RC06 and Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Conference on “Social Change and Family Developments”  in Beijing 2016.

[May 31-Jun 3, 2016] The Second workshop of the TEW-CCA project was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The workshop was attended by 15 participants from 5 countries. A detailed report and program of the workshop can be found here.

[Jun 1, 2016] Prof. Dr. Michael Gebel held a public lecture on “The transition from education to work: Challenges for youths” at the University of Central Asia in Dushanbe (Tajikistan). Follow-up discussions concerning youth issues were facilitated by Prof. Dr. Gebel, Dr. Saodat Olimova and Loiq Mirov with students and experts from Tajikistan.

[Jul 6-8, 2016] Prof. Dr. Michael Gebel held a presentation on “Gender, early family formation and the school-to-work transition: Evidence from 30 low and middle-income countries” and he was session chair and discussant of the session “Youth, transitions and labour trajectories” at the 37th Annual Conference of the International Working Party on Labour Market Segmentation in Barcelona.

[Jul 25-29, 2016] Eliza Mandieva held a presentation on “A Comparative Youth Survey in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Tajikistan, Results and Experiences from Multinational Questionnaire Development and Testing” at the 2nd International Conference on Survey Methods in Multinational, Multiregional and Multicultural Contexts, Chicago, IL, USA.

[Aug 22-26, 2016] All TEW-CCA Ph.D. students Eliza Mandieva, Rusudan Nadiradze, Nino Kobakhidze, Vladimir Rodin and Loik Mirov participated at the PhD-Training Workshop of the TEW-CCA Project on “Advanced regression analysis using Stata” at University of Bamberg, Germany. The teaching was conducted by Prof. Dr. Michael Gebel, Paul Löwe and Jonas Voßemer.

[Sep 7-10, 2016]  Prof. Dr. Michael Gebel held a presentation on “Gender, early family formation and the school-to-work transition:  Evidence from  30  low and  middle-income  countries”  at the  24th  Annual  Workshop of  the  European Research Network on Transitions in Youth (TIY) in Trento, Italy.

[Sep 19, 2016] Dr. Irina Badurashvili held a presentation on “Georgian Welfare Regime at the threshold of challenges of demographic change” at the Launch Event “Building Bridges in Social Welfare Policy in Eastern Europe” organized European Centre for the Social Welfare Policy and Research in Vienna.

[Nov 29, 2016] Prof. Dr. Michael Gebel gave an invited talk on “The transition from education to work in Central and Eastern Europe” at the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) in Regensburg.

 

[Jun 21-22, 2017] Dr. Irina Badurashvili held a presentation on the Georgian TEW-CCA survey on young people at the workshop “Skills mismatch measurement in ETF partner countries” at the European Training Foundation (ETF) in Torino.

[Jun 28 – Jul 1, 2017] Prof. Dr. Michael Gebel made a research stay at the Georgian Center for Population Research (GCPR) in Tbilisi conducting and discussing research of the TEW-CCA project with the Georgian TEW-CCA team Dr. Irina Badurashvili, Prof. Dr. Giorgi Meladze, Prof. Dr. Mamuka Nadareishvili, Rusudan Nadiradze, Nino Kobakhidze, and Nana Gurgenidze.
